summary
Assist the Executive Director in directing the business operations of the Michigan Schools Business Officials (MSBO) to ensure that the strategic plan and goals are met. Provides support to the membership through consultation, training, communication, and program development. Acts as liaison with state agencies and other associations to assist members with resolving issues, gaining knowledge, and promoting the profession. Maintains relationships with Michigan Department of Education and other state and educational agencies. Plans and organizes MSBO functions to ensure success and profitability. Monitors and supports MSBO business solutions and endorsements.

Position Responsibilities
• Serves as a resource to members to assist them in solving problems and providing solutions that promote effective and efficient operations for their school systems.
• Provide support and coordination of MSBO Program and Research Committees as assigned.
• Coordinates with external consultants and other resources to improve operations, increase productivity, or streamline existing systems.
• Conducts research to develop creative solutions in response to member questions and problems including developing new product lines to enhance effectiveness and ensure profitability.
• Represents the MSBO to various state agencies and other education organizations, monitors and assists member committees in area of responsibility.
• Creates, develops, and delivers training programs for members and other organizations.
• Maintains a current knowledge base of school system operational and business issues and challenges to advise on policy and procedural matters.
• Coordinates and manages various conferences and meetings to ensure delivery meets MSBO quality standards and that the needs of participants are met.
• Provides financial analysis assistance and prepares reports of findings for members.
• Performs special assignments and projects at the request of the Executive Director.
• Provides support and information to statewide regional groups including onsite demonstrations and presentations.
Qualifications
• This position requires a bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in Accounting, Business Administration, Management, Political Science/Public Policy, or related field of study. 
• This position requires five- to ten-years related experience in K-12 school system administration, accounting, finance, business management, public policy, public speaking and presenting, data and financial analysis; management experience in the assigned areas of responsibility; experience with Microsoft Office Suite software; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• MSBO Certification is recommended.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical journals, financial reports, legislative proposals and bill analysis, and legal documents.
• Ability to successfully accomplish the responsibilities of the position in an office setting or remotely. 
• Ability to organize and maintain accurate records.
• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the education community.
• Ability to write for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
• Ability to effectively develop and present information to top management, members, public groups, administrators, and/or boards of directors.
• Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with members, outside organizations, and stakeholders.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with multiple abstract and concrete variables.
• Ability to operate an automobile or other suitable mode of transportation.
• Ability to travel extensively in and out of state to accomplish the duties of the position, including multi day conferences, workshops or meetings which will require overnight travel.
