Controller - hybrid (remote/on site combination)

This position has the responsibility for the accounting operations of the Bank.  Prepares periodic financial reports, suggests changes to policies and procedures and prepares financial reports while complying with GAAP and banking regulations.  This position works with Executive Management to ensure the financial safety and soundness of the bank.

Position Responsibilities
•Performs the daily accounting tasks for the Bank.
•Monitors the liquidity position of the Bank.
•Suggests changes/updates to accounting policies and procedures.
•Prepares Financial Statements.
•Presents financial information to ALCO and the Board of Directors.
•Monitors key performance metrics.
•Prepares regulatory filings for the Bank and responds to inquiries from regulatory agencies.
•Responsible for the oversight of the Asset-Liability management model.
•Maintains the accounting for the Bank’s investments Portfolio.
•Prepares the budget and projections for the Bank’s capital and strategic plans.  
•Coordinates the Bank’s month-end close process.
•Serves as a liaison and coordinator for outside accountants, auditors and examiners. 
•Assists the Chief Credit Officer with the calculation of the Allowance for Loan and Lease Losses.
•Must comply with all requirements, policies and procedures of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and attend all mandatory BSA training as needed for this position.  Additionally, must complete all required compliance and regulatory training, not limited to BSA.
•This position requires knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired through a Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
•This position requires a minimum of three to five years of related experience in accounting preferably in a banking environment.
•Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Certification preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required
•Strong understanding of GAAP rules and regulations.
•A high level of analytical skill to assess and evaluate areas of responsibility.
•Solid experience in financial accounting and management reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll, and accounting for investments
•Keen analytic and problem solving skills which allows for data interpretation.
•Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with all levels of Bank personnel and outside business contacts.  Ability and desire to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels. 
•Knowledge of computer systems such as Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software programs and their application.
•Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, and financial reports.
•Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, or regulatory agencies.
•Ability to effectively present information to senior management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
•Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
•Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
