The Executive Director of Technology and Innovation is a strategic leader responsible for the agency’s information technology infrastructure and services. This role is instrumental in leveraging technology to enhance teaching and learning, improve administrative efficiency, and support the agency's overall mission. A critical component of this position is to spearhead the agency’s adoption and implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to optimize educational outcomes, streamline operations, and drive innovation in our service area. The Executive Director will play a pivotal role in transforming the RESA through the strategic use of technology, including AI. This position requires a visionary leader who can navigate the complexities of educational technology and drive innovation to improve student outcomes.
Position Responsibilities
• Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive information technology (IT) strategy aligned with Marquette-Alger RESA’s strategic plan and educational goals. Oversee the planning, development, implementation, and maintenance of IT systems and infrastructure.
• AI Implementation: Research, evaluate, and implement AI technologies to enhance teaching and learning, such as intelligent tutoring systems, personalized learning platforms, and automated grading. Develop a robust AI strategy, including data privacy and security protocols.
• Technology Infrastructure: Ensure the reliability, security, and efficiency of the district’s IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and hardware. Manage IT budgets and resources effectively.
• Data Management: Oversee data collection, management, and analysis to inform decision-making and improve student outcomes. Ensure data privacy and security compliance.
• Digital Learning: Promote the integration of technology into the classroom, providing teachers and students with the tools and training needed to effectively use digital resources.
• Staff Development: Lead and/or facilitate professional development initiatives to enhance the IT skills and knowledge of RESA and local school district staff.
• Cybersecurity: Develop and implement robust cybersecurity measures to protect district data and systems from threats.
• Vendor Management: Manage relationships with technology vendors and service providers.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with local district leaders, teachers, and staff to identify technology needs and solutions. Develop and foster effective collaborations between districts, counties, and statewide organizations.
• Staff Supervision: Supervise and evaluate assigned personnel.
• Represent Marquette-Alger RESA in IT-related initiatives and policy discussions statewide.
• Participate with local, regional and state professional organizations to stay abreast of information technology, artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, and current legislation to monitor effects and guide ISDs and LEAs.
• Serve as an active member of the Agency’s Cabinet-level team.
• Must keep the affairs of Marquette-Alger RESA and LEAs confidential at all times.
• Must uphold confidentiality of privileged and sensitive student/staff information.
• Requires regional job travel using personal vehicle.
• Occasional overnight travel downstate for conferences and activities of professional organizations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
