The Part-Time Certified Pilates Instructor will provide individualized and small-group Pilates-based exercise sessions for clients transitioning from skilled physical therapy to continued wellness, with a strong focus on restoring function, building stability, and supporting long-term health goals. This is a part-time, on-site position up to 25 hours /week. The instructor will collaborate closely with the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and other healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care within our unique patient population, including individuals with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders (HSD), chronic pain, and other complex conditions.

Healthy Consumer Physical Therapy values professional development. After six months, instructors are eligible for reimbursement toward pre-approved continuing education and certifications.

Position Responsibilities
• Deliver safe, individualized, and evidence-informed Pilates sessions for clients post-physical therapy discharge, using studio equipment provided on-site.
• Teach small-group mat-based Pilates classes, appropriately modified for clients with hypermobility or other complex conditions.
• Adapt and modify programs for clients with complex musculoskeletal and medical needs, with an emphasis on functional improvement rather than athletic performance.
• Collaborate with the DPT to develop exercise progressions aligned with each client’s therapeutic goals.
• Actively monitor client performance, providing verbal and tactile cueing to optimize technique and reduce injury risk.
• Maintain accurate records of client sessions, progress, and modifications.
• Communicate effectively with the healthcare team regarding client needs, concerns, or changes in condition.
• Make appropriate referrals back to the DPT for additional Physical Therapy as needed or if the client’s condition changes.
• Contribute to a welcoming, supportive, and professional environment for clients managing chronic conditions.
• Maintain the Clinic space in a clean, organized, and safe manner.
• Participate in team meetings and occasional staff training sessions.
• Adhere to HIPAA guidelines and clinic policies.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the DPT.
Qualifications
• Certification as a Pilates Instructor (mat and apparatus) from a recognized Pilates training program.
• Minimum of one year teaching Pilates, preferably in a rehabilitative, clinical, or wellness setting.
• Experience working with clients with EDS, HSD, chronic pain, or similar conditions strongly preferred.

• Reliable transportation and punctual attendance.
• Ability to maintain professionalism in sensitive or emotionally challenging situations.
• Ability to demonstrate and instruct Pilates movements.
• Occasionally lift up to 20 lbs. (e.g., moving equipment).
